Pool Opening & Closing

Mild winters still wreck unprepared pools. Start and end the season right.

Home/Services/Pool Opening & Closing

Closing: Yes, Even in Mississippi

Pine Belt winters are mild, but “mild” still means freeze warnings, months of falling leaves, and water that sits mostly unattended. A proper closing protects the investment sitting on your equipment pad:

Opening: Swim-Ready, Not Just Uncovered

A good opening is the difference between swimming in late March and staring at a cloudy pool in May. We reverse the closing process, restart and inspect the equipment, shock and balance the water, and stay on it until it’s genuinely swim-ready — not just “running.” If the water comes off winter green, our algae treatment gets folded right into the opening.

When to Schedule

In our area, most families open between mid-March and mid-April and close between late October and Thanksgiving. The calendar matters less than the trend: open before the water warms enough to feed algae, close after the leaf drop has mostly finished. We’ll help you pick the right week for your yard — and if you’d rather skip the seasonal scramble entirely, year-round weekly service keeps the pool ready in every season.

Pool Opening & Closing Questions

Closing here is lighter than in northern states, but skipping it entirely costs you: unbalanced water corrodes equipment all winter, debris loads the filter, and spring usually starts with an algae cleanup. A proper closing is cheaper than the recovery.
Most pools here open between mid-March and mid-April — before water temperatures climb into the range where algae takes off. Opening early is almost always easier than opening late.
It can be. We diagnose the water at opening, and if it needs algae treatment we fold that into the opening process so you go straight from covered to swim-ready.
